Experiment is the eighteenth episode of Season 5 and the 104th episode overall of Malcolm in the Middle.
Summary[]
Stevie and Malcolm try to figure out how Reese managed to separate two bases for an enzyme for a medical experiment when he refuses to tell them. Dewey sells chocolate bars by fibbing (with Francis' help).
Meanwhile, Francis teaches assertiveness to a runt pig he names Ralph. Piama tells Francis that if he doesn’t teach Ralph to be assertive enough to return to the barn, he’ll be looking up at him from an omelet.
Reese retraces his steps, remembering how he saw something shiny and went to get his shiny box to put it in, but had already lost interest by the time he got it. He then goes over to the closet and uses one of Malcolm’s shirts to floss his taint, much to Malcolm and Stevie’s disgust.
After discovering asbestos in the ceiling, the family temporarily moves into the garage until the asbestos has been removed. Malcolm states that his and Stevie’s experiment was successful and that they won the contest. He says their split enzyme will be used to cure diseases and for winning the contest they only received a very underwhelming prize: a pencil case with a compass on it.
Trivia[]
- The song that plays during Hal's fantasies of using Dewey's prizes is an instrumental version of the song "Shake Your Coconuts" by Danish band Junior Senior.
- In the scene where Lois forces Dewey to sell the chocolate bars, there is a shot where you can see that Jamie is a doll.
