Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The fifth season is marked by the birth of Jamie, the youngest of the family, who was born at the end of the fourth season, and his first adventures. Reese seeks to gain his independence, by living for a while in an apartment, then enlisting in the army at the end of the season, Malcolm asserts himself more and more within the family and in high school, and the great- mother Ida returns in several tasty episodes.
  • As for Hal, he had problems with his business at the end of the season.Bryan Cranston directed the episodes Vegas, Dirty Magazine, and Experiment.
  • Jane Kaczmarek was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Lead Actress, while Cloris Leachman was nominated for Guest Actress for this season.
