About[]

The house itself is old, run down, and has very little room. The boys are forced to share a bedroom, and there is no air conditioning.

Lois and Hal moved into the house while she was pregnant with Malcolm. They were unable to pay the rent for the apartment they lived in downtown, so they reluctantly moved to the house which was a lot cheaper.

After moving into the house, every subsequent child was born on the property. Malcolm was born on the front lawn, Dewey was born in the backyard, and Jamie was born in Hal and Lois' bedroom (the exterior bedroom wall was missing at the time). Only Francis and Reese were born in the hospital.

Francis lived in the house until sometime in the year 1999 or 2000 when he was sent to military school after engaging in various acts of rebellion. The final straw for Lois was when Francis got his nose pierced and was arrested by the cops for setting a neighbor's car on fire. Although he never actually moved back into the house, he did come back to visit multiple times, usually with his wife, Piama, in tow.

Craig Feldspar lived in the house with them for a short period of time. In the episode Malcolm vs. Reese, The Nolastname family burned down Craig's apartment after losing his cat, Jellybean, and Craig briefly moved in with them while it was being restored. He tortured the family while there by making a bunch of unreasonable requests and then guilt-tripping them into feeling obligated to do it, by mentioning that they burned down his apartment. This went on until the episode Mini-Bike, when Reese broke his leg while riding the titular mini-bike. The boys then tricked Craig into thinking that he broke Reese's leg by having Reese lie down behind his car as Craig was backing it up. When Craig realized what he had done, he felt overlaid with guilt and left the house to go live somewhere else. Because Lois was grateful that he was gone, she let the boys get away with the crime.

In the Halloween episode, the house was rumored to be the site of grisly murders involving a psychopath father murdering his own family. Hal was horrified by this while Lois didn't seem to mind. This was possibly paying him back for making her pass over a house she wanted just because he had a problem with the defective doorbell. However, Malcolm found documents from old police report on a website that revealed the house next door was the actual murder site. Hal is overjoyed and yells how Peterson paid so much for a house that once a crime scene. Ecstatic, he snatches the photo file from Malcolm, who tries to stop him. Hal's smile vanishes when he realizes that the photos are indeed of their house, and not the house next door. Malcolm says that he was sick of his dad acting scared and so he made up a website to fool Hal. Hal later calms down and apologizes. Suddenly, they both hear creepy creaking sounds and moans, along with some banging. Malcolm become freaked out when he hears banging and jumps out the window in fright. Hal reveals it's a false alarm and pulls down Jamie's shirt, revealing he was the one behind the crashing and the moaning sounds earlier. In the episode Graduation, Malcolm and Reese graduated high school and went to live on their own. Malcolm lived in an apartment, and Reese moved into Craig's house where the two lived together.
